We arrived in Japan a day later than we thought, lost two sets of museum tickets and began the month in sauna-like air. Somewhere between Tokyo towers, quiet gardens, deer islands, temple fatigue and an ice cream we kept returning for, the imperfect itinerary became ours.

We wanted a hi-fi space built around the music rather than the equipment: a corner for entire albums, slow evenings, shared discoveries and whatever happens to be playing while dinner is on the stove.
